This engraving style and similar patterns are very popular with Nutmeg clients.  Of course it is a brand new Colt SAA with the special metal prep work done to our specifications by.  This is a brand new Colt is serialS39897A.  It is a 4 3/4" .45 caliber.  The "C++ coverage is in the style of L.D. Nimschke who emigrated to the U.S. from Germany circa 1850.  Nimschke's most famous gun was the Colt he engraved for Teddy Roosevelt.  This masterpiece has been specially prepared for engraving for Nutmeg Sports at the Colt Custom Gun Shop.  The cylinder flutes have been beveled and the backstrap ears and hammer contour have been meticulously matched.  The engraver has fully covered the front sight, the hammer, and the inside of the gate and gate seat as well as the inside front of the trigger guard where the fingers wrap.  The gun is nickel plated and inked with a wonderful treatment of fire bluing on the small parts.  The panel screws are qualified so they line up exactly in the horizontal position when tightened.  Take note of the special engraving on the hammer.  The rear contour between the backstrap ears and the top surface of the hammer have felt the artist's chisel.  Each side of the hammer is breathtakingly engraved with the depiction of an eagle's head and wing.  In addition the hammer shows a  snake's body beneath the eagle.  True artistry such as this is rare.  The grips are genuine African elephant ivory in the one piece configuration.  This ivory on this new gun is of the one-piece configuration and shows a very rich creamy color on each panel.  We tried to make an effort to show even more pictures than normal so you could really get a good idea of the generous coverage on this masterpiece.  Right now as an added incentive, we are including a $200 custom presentation case with the purchase of this gun.  The case will be just like the one pictured at the bottom of this page.

(PRICE $3950.00)

G-2 explosio.gif (2688 bytes)sold.gif (2104 bytes)It has been a few months since we posted new guns for sale.  Clients just keep buying them before we even get them on the site.  We kept this one quiet just so we could get a new gun up.  This one is a beauty and worth the wait.  It is of course a Colt SAA 3rd generation.  Serial number S39893A.  It has all of our usual bells and whistles but this one has even more features.  It is the ever popular .45 caliber with a 4 3/4" barrel.  The engraving is such a strong "C++" that I am tempted to just say it is full "D" coverage.  The cutting is flawless and smooth in an updated version of the famous "Lucky Lady" gun that was engraved just after the turn on the last century.  This masterpiece is just full of special surprises that can be seen in the pictures.  Accentuating the engraving coverage the artist has engraved the front sight, the hammer, the inner part of the trigger guard where the fingers wrap, as well as the inside if the loading gate.  Then in a bold departure this artist has taken this work to yet another level of beauty.  The top of the hammer is engraved in a twisted rope pattern that precisely matches the twisted rope pattern seen on the top strap of the frame.  Not stopping there, the rear face of the cylinder is also engraved in a delicate cross hatch pattern that can only be seen while the gate is open.  While the gate is open you may also want to see it's front flat surface.  It also is ENGRAVED!!  The more you look at this gun, the more you see!  The plating is nickel with the added accents of fire bluing to the screws, cylinder pin, ejector rod head and trigger.  The surface is inked and baked adding wonderful depth to the overall effect.  The panel screws have each been qualified to tighten at precisely the horizontal position.  The backstrap ears and rear hammer contour have been perfectly matched and the engraving of this area also matches perfectly.  Lastly this gun displays beautifully matching 1 piece African elephant ivory grips.  This highly prized Colt will fit into the finest of collections.

 PRICE ($3,995.00)

G-3 sold.gif (2104 bytes)Wow!!  Another new Colt SAA for sale.  And it's another very popular black powder style frame.  A 4 3/4" 45 caliber, serial #S35201A has been engraved with my usual very strong "C++".  The style is traditional late 19th/early 20th century American style drawing heavily from the work of L.D. Nimschke.  Some of the panels were copied directly from the famous Teddy Roosevelt gun that was shipped to Hartley and Graham in May of 1883 and then to Nimschke for engraving.  This one also even has the cylinder flutes engraved.  The hammer, front sight, top sides and rear contour of the hammer as well as the gate seat and gate surface where the thumb contacts have all felt the artist's chisel.  The finish is bright nickel and the surface has been inked and baked to clearly show the beauty of the engraving.  The hammer has been recontoured to match the backstrap ears, and the cylinder ends have been beveled.  The panel screws are qualified to tighten precisely at the horizontal position, and all of the small parts have been given the stunning treatment of fireblueing including that bull's eye ejector rod head.  The grips are the one piece configured genuine African elephant ivory displaying spectacular graining.

PRICE ($3,900.00)

G-4 sold.gif (2104 bytes)We are finally starting to get some inventory posted.  This latest gun is of course another brand spanking new Colt SAA.  Serial number S35406A came ready for engraving from The Colt Custom Gun Shop.  It is a black powder style frame with a 4 3/4" barrel in .45 colt caliber.  The engraving is the traditional American style in "C+" coverage. The grips are the one piece configured genuine African elephant ivory.

PRICE ($3,750.00)

G-5 sold.gif (2104 bytes)This Colt SAA serial #S35413A is also a 4 3/4" 45 caliber.  The engraving is our usual generous level of (C++) coverage including the front sight, hammer, and inside the gate. The grips are the one piece configured genuine African elephant ivory and they display a marvelous grain pattern.

PRICE ($3,750.00)

G-6 sold.gif (2104 bytes)The work is finally completed on this real nice color cased and blue Colt SAA.  Of course it is another brand new unfired unturned gun in its factory fresh Custom Gun shop carton.  #S36006A is a 45 caliber 4 3/4" gun with all of my normal extras and even more.  The color case work on this gun is nothing short of awesome.  In over thirty years in this business I have not seen color this nice.  The blue is just as good in my opinion.  The small parts have been given the treatment of fire blue.  The engraving is based on German-American engraving of the late 19th century with some English Victorian and classic European architectural elements.  The coverage is a "C+" and close to a "D."  In addition to the normally engraved places, this masterpiece is engraved on the front sigh, the hammer sides top and rear contour, the gate seat and three surfaces of the gate.  The workmanship on this piece is absolutely wonderful with deep bold cuts and intertwining scroll.  The ejector rod head is the ever popular bullseye style.  The engraver was so proud of this gun he signed it in three different locations, once under the ejector tube, once on the rear of the cylinder, and lastly under the grips.  Speaking of the grips this pair is my usual material, African elephant ivory, in the one piece configuration with natural color that you normally have to wait a hundred years for.  This gun has it all.

PRICE ($3,950.00)

G-7 sold.gif (2104 bytes)This is another real nice color cased and blue Colt SAA.  It has everything that G-6 has but the coverage is totally different.  It's just as nice but different.  Of course it is another brand new unfired unturned gun in its factory fresh Custom Gun shop carton.  #S36003A is a 45 caliber 4 3/4" gun with all of my normal extras and even more.  The color case work on this gun is wonderful.  The small parts also have been given the treatment of fire blue.  The engraving is still based on German-American engraving of the late 19th century.  It is in the style of L.D. Nimschke and Cuno Helfricht.  The coverage is a "C+" and close to a "D."  In addition to the normally engraved places, this masterpiece is engraved on the front sigh, the hammer sides top and rear contour, the gate seat and three surfaces of the gate.  The face of the gate is rarely if ever engraved.  It reminds me of some of the finer English shotguns with engraving on the inside of the lockworks.  The engraver has signed this gun in three different locations, once under the ejector tube, once on the rear of the cylinder, and again under the grips.  The grips on this masterpiece are of African elephant ivory, in the one piece configuration with natural color that shows grain that you just very seldom see.  This gun would represent a wonderful addition to the finest collection or that one time gun you have always wanted.

Our newest Colt is a gun with a similar style of engraving we have featured before with tremendous success.  The serial number is S33647A and it is a 4 3/4" nickel plated SAA in .45 caliber.  The style is another blend of the classical styles of Nimschke and Helfricht and shows like a full "D"coverage.  The front sight and hammer are even engraved.  Our engraver has even taken the time to engrave the inside of the surface where the thumb touches to open the gate.  This is a place that seldom if ever see the engraver's chisel.  The effect is just stunning.  We have qualified the panel screws so that all of the slots are horizontal and have matched the backstrap ears to the rear contour of the hammer just the way Colt used to do it fifty years ago.  A complete fire blue package as well as inked and baked engraving add wonderfully to this fine masterpiece.  The grips are hand selected one piece African Elephant ivory and are a beautifully colored.

PRICE (P.O.R.)

SG2 sold.gif (2104 bytes)Another new Colt for Nutmeg.   Serial # S33980A is a 4 3/4" .45 that has been lavishly covered in a very strong "D" scroll that shows more like a "D+".  As usual I had the artist cover the front sight as well as the hammer and the inside of the gate where the thumb makes contact. The pattern on this masterpiece is a blending of an American style with that of the style of the German Master, Rudolph Kornbrath. The cuts are deep and bold and the background has been heavily relieved. This wonderful piece has been plated with nickel and then given the treatment of ink and bake followed by a complete fire bluing of all of the small parts.  The engraver has signed this masterpiece in three places.  Coverage even includes the cylinder flutes.   It is almost unheard of to engrave the cylinder flutes of a single action, but this one has that rare feature.  The backstrap ears have been matched to the rear contour of the hammer, and the panel screws are completely qualified so that they tighten with the slots in the horizontal position. The backstrap has also been reconfigured to the Bird's Head" style. The grips are beautifully grained African elephant ivory in the one piece configuration.

SG3 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This one is a 5 1/2" nickel plated gun in .45 long Colt caliber.   Serial # S33457A has a very strong "C" level of coverage including the front sight and hammer. On this gun I asked the engraver to apply some engraving to the inside of the loading gate where the thumb contacts.  She did a wonderful job.  The style is the classic L.D. Nimschke.  This gun is signed twice by the engraver.  The small parts have all been given the striking treatment of fire blue, and the engraving has been inked to add visual clarity.  Notice how the ears of the backstrap have been matched to the hammer contour just like Colt used to do it 50 years ago.  The grips are hand selected genuine African elephant ivory in the one piece configuration.  A really nice gun that would fit into the finest of Colt collections.

PRICE (P.O.R.)

SG4 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This new Colt #S30715A is a 5 1/2" .45 lavishly engraved in the style of Rudolf Kornbrath.  This gun is also clad in rich fine sterling silver with a fire blue package and bull's eye style ejector rod head.  The front sight and the hammer have also been finely engraved and the engraving has been inked to give emphasis to it depth and beauty.  The backstrap ears have been perfectly aligned with the rear contour of the hammer the way Colt used to do it fifty years ago.  The panel screws are qualified and the grips are one piece configured African Elephant ivory.

SG5 sold.gif (2104 bytes)This Colt is a .45 caliber 4 3/4" # SA43141 and is engraved with a very generous level of "C" Helfricht coverage and plated with fine sterling silver with a complete fire blue package.  The coverage has been inked and the screws have been qualified.  The backstrap ears and the hammer have been matched perfectly just like Colt used to do it 50 years ago.  The grips are my hand selected ivory in the one piece configuration that match perfectly with deep dish silver medallions.

SG6 sold.gif (2104 bytes)Our newest Colt is a gun with the same type of engraving we have featured before with tremendous success.  It is a copy of the famous "Lucky Lady" gun that was originally engraved by the master Ben Lane Jr.  Our rendition is not exactly the same and has a few added features.   The serial number is S33458A and it is a 5 1/2" nickel plated SAA in .45 caliber.  The style is pure classic Helfricht and the coverage is just shy of a full "D".  Of course we have had the front sight and hammer engraved.  Our engraver has even taken the time to engrave the inside of the trigger guard where the fingers wrap as well as the inside of the gate surface where the thumb touches to open the gate.  These are areas that seldom if ever see the engraver's chisel.

SG7 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

Formerly called G-3, this is a gun that I found photos of and is a pattern that was very popular.  I liked it so well that I sent it out to the engraver and asked her to do it again with just a couple of modifications.  This beauty is a 5 1/2" nickel plated gun in what else but .45 long colt caliber.   The coverage is a very strong "C" level including the front sight and hammer.

SG8 sold.gif (2104 bytes)Here is another fabulous SAA from Nutmeg Sports.  This one is serial #S33648A.  It is a .45 caliber with a 4 3/4" barrel.  The engraving is our special blending of the classic styles of L.D. Nimschke and Cuno Helfricht.  We have done this pattern very similarly before and it is always a winner.  This one is meticulously finished in fine sterling silver.  The engraving has been inked and baked and all of the small parts have received the treatment of fire blueing.  We installed the ever popular bullseye ejector rod head onto this gun as well.  The panel screws have each been qualified so that they line up horizontally when tightened.  The backstrap ears have been aligned perfectly with the rear contour of the hammer just the way Colt used to do it 50 years ago.  The engraving on this silver plated gun shows as nicely as any we have seen.   It is a very generous "C+" coverage.  The engraver took extra pains to engrave the inside of the gate as well as the gate pocket.  That pocket engraving is the first time we have done this.  We think you will agree that it looks smashing.   The grips are perfectly matched genuine African elephant ivory and were hand selected and fitted by me in my own CT shop where I do all of the ivory work for The Colt Custom Gun Shop.  The grips are in the one piece configuration.

SG9 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This Colt is a 5 1/2" .45 and was also engraved in the style of Cuno Helfricht.  The coverage is a very strong "C" including the front sight and hammer.  The finish is fine sterling silver and has been inked and baked.  The screws, trigger, cylinder pin, and ejector rod head have all been given the rich treatment of fire blue.  The grips are of one piece configured genuine African Elephant ivory with deep dish silver medallions.

SG10 sold.gif (2104 bytes)This new Colt SAA has the bird's head configured backstrap with a .45 caliber 3 1/2" barrel, serial #S29876A.   This gun has a full ejector rod and rod housing.  Prior to 1992 it was nearly impossible to find a 3 1/2" Colt with an ejector rod and housing.  If you could find one it was usually an after market conversion.  All of Nutmeg's bird's heads come direct from the Colt Custom Shop that way.  The engraving is ours and this gun is engraved in a Cuno Helfricht style with a "C" coverage including the front sight and the hammer, and has been plated in nickel. The engraver has even engraved the inside of the gate surface where your thumb contacts.  The engraving coverage has been inked and all of the small parts have been given the rich treatment of fire blue.  The panel screws have each been qualified to tighten when the slots are exactly in the horizontal position.  Take a look at my new metal prep work.  That quarter round area on the back of the hammer matches the backstrap ears exactly just like the guns of fifty years ago.  The grips are hand selected one piece African Elephant ivory.

sold.gif (2104 bytes)This Colt is a wonderfully engraved and silver plated 4 3/4" .45 caliber, serial #S31524A.  I asked the engraver to give me a strong "C" coverage in the ever popular classic Helfricht style and he really gave me a generous amount of coverage that would qualify as at least a "C+".  The front sight and hammer have also been meticulously engraved and the coverage has been fully inked to add visual depth. The engraver even went so far as to engrave the inside of the gate surface where the thumb contacts.  He also has placed some engraving on the top of the hammer and the part of the trigger guard where your fingers wrap.  These are areas that are above and beyond the call for an engraver to touch.  My trademark fire blue package is included and the panel screws have been qualified to all align perfectly.  This masterpiece also has my new metal prep work that perfectly matches the backstrap ears with the back of the hammer just like Colt used to do it fifty years ago.  Check that out in the pictures.   The grips are another pair of my hand selected and perfectly matched one piece configured African Elephant ivory with no medallions.  This gun is a real beauty and will look great in anyone's collection.

SG12 sold.gif (2104 bytes)Of all of the guns sold by Nutmeg Sports this one is my favorite.  This Single Action is also a .45 with a 5 1/2" barrel.  It is nickel plated in a pattern that blends the styles of Cuno Helfricht and Rudolph Kornbrath in a manner that is breathtaking.  The inked and baked engraving is a generous "C" coverage including the front sight and hammer.  Even the panel screws have been engraved.  All of the screws, trigger, cylinder pin, and ejector rod head have been given the rich treatment of fire blue.  The grips are genuine African Elephant ivory in the one piece configuration with antique style deep dish silver medallions.

SG13 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This new Colt SAA also is a .45 caliber 4 3/4", serial #S31525A.  The engraving is the classic Helfricht style with a very strong "C+" coverage including the front sight and the hammer, and has been plated in fine sterling silver..  The engraving coverage has been inked and all of the small parts have been given the rich treatment of fire blue.  The engraver has even taken the extra time to engrave the inside of the gate surface where the thumb contacts when opening the gate.  The ejector rod head is the ever popular bull's eye style and the panel screws have each been qualified to tighten when the slots are exactly in the horizontal position.  As with all of our guns the engraver has signed this masterpiece in two locations.  Take a look at my new metal prep work.  That quarter round area on the back of the hammer matches the backstrap ears exactly just like the guns of fifty years ago.  The grips are hand selected one piece African Elephant ivory.

SG14 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This new Colt SAA serial #S27821A is a wonderfully engraved 5 1/2" .45 caliber.  This gun is engraved in the classic American style at a very strong "C" level including the front sight and the hammer, and as with all of Nutmeg's guns it is signed twice by the engraver.  This masterpiece has been plated in nickel and has been given the complete treatment of fire blue on all of the screws and small parts.  The engraving is inked and this gun has been fitted with hand selected one piece African Elephant ivory grips.

SG15 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This new Colt Single Action is a real masterpiece.  It is a 5 1/2" .45 caliber #S29968A.  The coverage is classic American style in a good strong "C" level of engraving.  Notice in the pictures the intertwining scrolls, and how the engraver has even covered the inside of the gate surface where your thumb contacts.   The front sight as well as the hammer are fully covered with lavish scroll.   The surface of this marvelous gun has been clad in rich fine sterling silver.   Take special note of how the backstrap ears and the rear hammer contour match perfectly just the way Colt used to do it fifty years ago.  This gun has been given the complete fire blue package and has been assembled with the ever popular bulls eye style ejector rod head.  The panel screws have been qualified to each tighten at the point when the slots are in the horizontal position and the engraving has been fully inked.  The grips are an absolutely perfectly matched pair of African Elephant ivory in the one piece configuration with perfectly matching growth rings.

SG16 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This is our newest gun as of June 1st and is one of the most spectacular guns we have had at Nutmeg in a long time.  I just gave this gun to one of our engravers and told him to do what he wanted.  We are sure you will agree, the results are stunning.  It is a 7 1/2" 44-40 Colt Frontier Six Shooter #SA66992 covered with a very generous "C+" level of engraving and clad in nickel plating.   The style is a marvelous blend of L.D.Nimschke, Cuno Helfricht, and the late Howard Dove.  The front sight and hammer are engraved, as well as the inside of the loading gate and the top of the hammer.  The engraving has been inked and the small parts have been given the treatment of fire blue.  The panel screws are each qualified to align horizontally.  The grips are one piece African elephant ivory and each panel has been scrimmed with an angel in mid air.  On one side the angel is extending an olive branch from her hand and on the other side the angel has a long sword in her hand.   This gun is a wonderful masterpiece.

(PRICE P.O.R.)

SG17 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This Colt is a brand new third generation serial number S34998A.  The caliber is everyone's favorite, the classic .45 long colt.  Barrel length is 4 3/4", and the finish is bright nickel.  Our trademark inking has added beauty and depth to the finely cut scroll which has been applied in a full "C+" coverage in a blend of American styles.  The coverage includes the front sight, the hammer, and the inside of the loading gate.  The engraver has even engraved the gate seat on the frame.  This is a fairly new feature, and to our knowledge we are the only ones offering it.  As usual you get more for your money with a Nutmeg Colt.  Like the complete fire blue package and qualified panel screws on this gun as well as the recontoured backstrap ears that match the rear contour of the hammer.  Colt used to do this about 100 years ago.  The cylinder's chamber leads have been meticulously chamfered.  The grips are one piece configured genuine African elephant ivory with subtle tan striping that matches at the butt in a unique herringbone pattern.  This gun will make a wonderful addition to any collection.

(PRICE P.O.R.)

SG18 sold.gif (2104 bytes)This is a third generation brand new SAA from the Colt Custom Gun Shop.  The finish was done by Colt and everything else by us.  This gun is the black powder style.  That means it has the three line patent date instead of two and the cylinder pin is retained be a small screw then enters from the front of the frame rather than the cross pins retention system.  This allows the engraver a lot more space to put scroll and the gun just looks cleaner from either side.  The coverage is in the style of L.D. Nimschke and is a very generous "C++".  The engraving includes the front sight and hammer as well as inside the gate where the thumb makes contact and the gate seat.  Even the rear contour of the hammer and the top of the hammer are engraved.  This masterpiece shows a real nice fire blue package that includes all of the screws, the trigger, the doughnut style ejector rod head, and cylinder pin.  The engraving is inked to show it's depth and beauty and the panel screws have been qualified to line up precisely in the horizontal position.  The ears of the backstrap have been contoured to match the rear contour of the hammer just like Colt used to do it.  The grips are genuine African elephant ivory in the one piece configuration and were selected and made by me in my Connecticut work shop where I perform the ivory work for The Colt Custom Gun Shop.  This gun would be a great addition to any collection.

(PRICE P.O.R.)

SG19 sold.gif (2104 bytes)It is the very popular black powder style frame.  It has been engraved with my usual very strong "C++".  The style is a unique blending of modern American and last century's Master, L. D. Nimschke.  This one even has the cylinder flutes engraved. The grips are the one piece configured genuine African elephant ivory.
