sold.gif (2104 bytes)This new Colt SAA is a departure from the normal listing you might see on our site. Serial #S67654A.  It is a gun that was part of a Doug Turnbull project undertaken with Colt.  Doug bought a limited number of SAA's from Colt and duplicated a gun that was made for Teddy Roosevelt.  One of the most famous guns ever produced by Colt, this gun was designed to display all of Roosevelt's favorite features.  The caliber is 44-40. to match the caliber of his Winchester rifle.  The grips were African Elephant ivory ivory including a double surface carving.  The right side is carved with the famous overlapping TR.  The left panel has a surface carving of a buffalo.  This buffalo rendition is rather cartoonish but it is precisely the way that TR's buffalo was carved. The scroll engraving was a duplicate of the original that was cut by L.D. Nimschke. including the large TR on the recoil shield. The frame configuration is the black powder style and very difficult to obtain these days.  The engraving on this Masterpiece comes from the shop of John Adams, one of the most famous and prolific artist who's contract career for Colt has spanned over 4 decades and still continues.  Adams also performed the ivory carving.  The plating is a combination of sterling silver, 24K gold with fire blue accents. The gun is in brand new condition in it's original Colt box and serialized TR24.  There were only 25 of this serial number range produced by Colt.

G-2 sold.gif (2104 bytes)Our next new Colt is also a 45 with a 4 3/4" barrel.  Yes, it is brand new in the box with all the right features.  This one is "C+" coverage including the front sight and hammer.  Of course it is brand new in it's original Colt box.  The finish is our very popular antique nickel.  The ivory grips are the one piece configuration. The action has been custom tuned.  Words can't describe this gun as well as the pictures.

G-3 sold.gif (2104 bytes)This next gun we are introducing is another brand new in the box Colt SAA. It's a bright nickel 45 caliber with a  4 3/4" barrel.  The most popular gun, in the most popular caliber, with the most popular barrel length, in the most popular finish!  And..... IT'S ENGRAVED! What could be better? The coverage on this Colt is a very tasteful "B".   The cylinder flutes are beveled to give that first generation look and the rollmarks are also the first generation style.  Of course the grips are our usual pre-ban African elephant ivory in the one piece configuration.  The color of this pair of ivory displays mild yellow tones that can be seen in the pictures. The action on this revolver has been custom tuned by our master craftsman to assure a buttery smooth function with a vault like lockup and a crisp trigger break. And remember when this Colt is bought as with all our guns you will receive an extensive letter of authenticity naming the engraver with a brief bio of that person including information on where the gun is signed and a complete description of the gun. A masterpiece of American craftsmanship!

G-4 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

Here is another new Colt SAA.  We are very pleased to have this gun because this one was done by a wonderful Colt contract engraver who is so busy we rarely get work from him.  It is a 5 1/2" .45 serial number S46038A.  It is the extremely rare black powder style frame that the Colt custom shop puts out in limited quantities.  The coverage is a very strong "C+" American scroll.  The front sight, the hammer, and even the inside of the loading gate has felt the artists chisel.  Even all of the screws are engraved.  These surfaces are engraved on only the finest Colts.  The engraver was so proud of his work that this one is signed in two locations.  The finish is bright nickel and has had the treatment of ink and bake that helps give the coverage great clarity and visibility.  The one piece African ivory grips are very special.  Closely look and the enlarged grip pictures and notice the mellow creamy colors that gently flow through the material.  The picture of the butt illustrates the perfect match and growth rings of this ivory tusk.  The action has been custom tuned.   I'll say again, before you buy this gun, check out any gun show in the country, look at www.gunbroker.com and www.gunsamerica.com.  See what you find to compare with this gun and then make your choice.  A real nice gun that anyone can be proud to own.

G-5 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

Here is another very tastefully engraved "B" coverage gun.  It is like most of our guns in that it is brand new unturned and in it's original Colt Custom Shop blue box with hang tags.  Serial number S58292A is a  4 3/4" cross pin style frame in the ever popular .45 caliber.  We have plated this Colt so that it shows as antique nickel.  Several other features give this Colt an antique flair.  The cylinder leads are beveled and similar other polishing nuances known to first generation guns have been completed.  Beautifully engraved but not overdone, this Colt even has been given a silky action job.  The ivory is so perfectly matched it is like two slices of bread coming off the same loaf one after the other.  The color is wonderful and is particularly visible on the picture of the base of the gun.  Affordably priced.

Our latest offering, of course it is a brand new Colt SAA 45 with a 4 3/4" barrel, serial number S64346A.  This revolver is nothing short of spectacular.  The very bold "C++) coverage is engraving at it's finest.  You just don't run accross guns like this very often.  The finish is bright nickel with ink and bake.  The engraving even includes the front sight, the hammer, and theloading gate pocket.  Look closely at these grips and their coloration.  They are the finest, most colorful, perfectly matched ivory it has been our pleasure ever to handle.  A great gun for any collection.

G-7 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

Here is yet another new fabulous Colt SAA from Nutmeg Sports LLC.  We continue to strive to offer you the finest engraved Colt SAA's at the fairest price on the market today.  This is one of our goals and it continus to be achieved everytime we show a new Colt.  Our guns sell very quickly because prospective buyers know when they see fine workmanship at a fair price.  Here is another one.  If you would like to buy it simply contact us.  If you would like to just look at it, go ahead and enjoy.  It's a brand new 5 1/2" 45 new in the box #S56702A.  Fully nickel plated, inked and baked with what we refer to as a "C++" coverage.  Most other dealers would not hesitate to call this a "D" coverage but there are a few open spots although not many.  Just feast your eyes on this fabulous engraving.  Notice the twisted rope pattern that extends across the top strap.  That pettern even runs onto to top of the hammer.  How about that cross hatch pattern on both the face and rear surface of the cylinder?  Even the face of the loading gate is engraved.  We even gave this Colt a custom tuned action.  Of course our grips are genuine African pre-ban elephant ivory.  This pair is in the one piece configuration showing spectacular coloration with a perfect color and fit from side to side.  Check out www.gunbroker.com and www.gunsamerica.com to see what they have that might come close to this.
This is a fabulous Colt that would fit into any collection.

G-8 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

It's another new in the box Colt SAA.  This one is a 4 3/4" 45 serial number S58440A.  This gun is for the collector that wants an engraved gun but does not want heavy coverage.  This one display a good strong "B" coverage.  It is really nice engraving but you still get to see some of the gun.  Antique nickel plated and very affordably priced.  You still get Nutmegs trademark ivory grips and what a pair they are! Beautifully colored and a perfect match. An action job is also included.  You can't go wrong with this great Colt.

Sold Guns

The following list represents guns that we offered and were previously sold.  We are describing these guns and posting the photography for you to see in the event that you may like to recreate one of these guns.  All of our pieces are one of a kind creations and we would never damage the integrity of a previously sold gun by duplicating it however, we will come very close using the same style, pattern and engraver.   If  you see a particular style of gun that you like contact us for pricing and delivery.

SG1 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This Colt SAA is one of the most profusely engraved guns we have ever listed.  The particular gun is a second generation vintage serial number 41664SA.  The caliber is .45 and the barrel length is 5 1/2".  The finish is nickel, with the added feature of ink and bake that really causes the engraving coverage to pop.  The panel screws have each been qualified to tighten at precisely the horizontal position.  The coverage on this fine Colt is full "D+" in the style of Rudolph Kornbrath who emigrated to the U.S. from Austria in 1910 and soon became a dominant force until he was struck with a disabling stroke in 1937.  Virtually no areas of this revolver remain untouched by the artist's chisel.  Places that are rarely engraved have received special treatment.  The cylinder flutes always represent a big challenge for an engraver because of their concave shape.  Each flute has been painstakingly engraved.  The loading gate, gate seat and gate front have each been covered.  The face and rear of the cylinder is engraved between each chamber hole.  The front sight and the hammer are fully engraved.  The inside front of the trigger guard where the fingers wrap is engraved.  Each of the panel screws have even been engraved.  The grips are genuine African elephant ivory in the one piece configuration.  Each grip panel has been hand scrimshawed with an image of an angel.  One angel is displayed extending an olive branch and the opposite angel shows an ominous raised sword.  The artist was so proud of this work, he has signed this gun three times.  In over forty years, this is one of the finest and most fully engraved Colts it has been my pleasure to offer.

SG2 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This gun is a new Colt SAA, serial #S44804A.  It's a 5 1/2" .45.  It is nickel plated with one piece African elephant ivory grips.  Just look at that grain!  The engraving is a "C++" level of coverage in a Cuno Helfricht style including the front sight and the hammer.  The engraver has even engraved the inside of the gate surface where your thumb contacts.  The engraving coverage has been inked and all of the small parts have been given the rich treatment of fire blue.  The panel screws have each been qualified to tighten when the slots are exactly in the horizontal position.  The action has been custom tuned so if the owner of this Colt decides to fire it the feeling will be of silky smooth precision with a crisp clean trigger break. The pictures of this masterpiece actually speak for themselves but please take the time to click on each picture and take in the attention to detail.  If you know Colt engraving, you will also know that guns like this one are very difficult if not impossible to find on the open market.  If you do not know about engraving, you will at least know that you are seeing something very beautiful and very special.

SG3 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This one is a 5 1/2" nickel plated gun in .45 long Colt caliber.   Serial # S33457A has a very strong "C" level of coverage including the front sight and hammer. On this gun I asked the engraver to apply some engraving to the inside of the loading gate where the thumb contacts.  She did a wonderful job.  The style is the classic L.D. Nimschke.  This gun is signed twice by the engraver.  The small parts have all been given the striking treatment of fire blue, and the engraving has been inked to add visual clarity.  Notice how the ears of the backstrap have been matched to the hammer contour just like Colt used to do it 50 years ago.  The grips are hand selected genuine African elephant ivory in the one piece configuration.  A really nice gun that would fit into the finest of Colt collections.
SG4 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This new Colt #S30715A is a 5 1/2" .45 lavishly engraved in the style of Rudolf Kornbrath.  This gun is also clad in rich fine sterling silver with a fire blue package and bull's eye style ejector rod head.  The front sight and the hammer have also been finely engraved and the engraving has been inked to give emphasis to it depth and beauty.  The backstrap ears have been perfectly aligned with the rear contour of the hammer the way Colt used to do it fifty years ago.  The panel screws are qualified and the grips are one piece configured African Elephant ivory.

SG5 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This Colt is a .45 caliber 4 3/4" # SA43141 and is engraved with a very generous level of "C" Helfricht coverage and plated with fine sterling silver with a complete fire blue package.  The coverage has been inked and the screws have been qualified.  The backstrap ears and the hammer have been matched perfectly just like Colt used to do it 50 years ago.  The grips are my hand selected ivory in the one piece configuration that match perfectly with deep dish silver medallions.

SG6 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This is a fantastic Colt by a young Master engraver that used to work for S&W and then Colt, then S&W again and now freelance.  I am proud that he has joined the family of Nutmeg engravers.  The gun is a new 45 serial number S48100A.  The pattern on this gun is nothing short of spectacular.  It is in a style that was popularized by the late Colt Master, Howard Dove.  There is touches of multi-shaded basket weave.  The coverage is a very strong "C+" and the clarity of the cutting is just amazing.  It is nickel plated with my ink and bake treatment.  The hammer, front sight, inside the gate, and even the panel screws are engraved.  The grips are one piece configured pre-ban genuine African elephant ivory with wonderfully soft yellow grain that matches from side to side.  This Colt is brand new in the box.  Check out  www.gunsamerica.com or www.gunbroker.com to see if you can find a gun this nice at any price.  I don't think so.

SG7 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This gun is a little different than any we have pictured on our list.  It is a 4 3/4" 45 caliber, serial #S41445A.  What makes this Colt different is the unique application of the engraving and the selected pattern.  Closely examine the pictures and you will see the results of the meticulous hand use of the hammer and chisel.  The scroll almost seems to be alive as it flows into and around this revolver's components.  The breathtaking pattern seems to connect and bring the metal pieces together in a manner that is extremely pleasing to the eye.  The intricate lines intertwine and dart in, out and through the ribbon like scroll.  The coverage is a very generous "C++".  The hammer and front sight, as well as the gate seat and gate surface where the thumb contacts have all felt the artist's chisel.  The finish is bright nickel and the surface has been inked and baked to clearly show the beauty of the engraving.  The hammer has been recontoured to match the backstrap ears.  The panel screws are qualified to tighten precisely at the horizontal position, and all of the small parts have been given the stunning treatment of fireblueing including that bull's eye ejector rod head.  Lastly, the grips on this Colt are of the one piece configuration and display spectacular grain lines that tell you unmistakably that they are genuine African elephant ivory.  This gun will fit nicely into the finest of collections and could easily be considered the crown jewel of many collections.

SG8 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

Here is another fabulous SAA from Nutmeg Sports.  This one is serial #S33648A.  It is a .45 caliber with a 4 3/4" barrel.  The engraving is our special blending of the classic styles of L.D. Nimschke and Cuno Helfricht.  We have done this pattern very similarly before and it is always a winner.  This one is meticulously finished in fine sterling silver.  The engraving has been inked and baked and all of the small parts have received the treatment of fire blueing.  We installed the ever popular bullseye ejector rod head onto this gun as well.  The panel screws have each been qualified so that they line up horizontally when tightened.  The backstrap ears have been aligned perfectly with the rear contour of the hammer just the way Colt used to do it 50 years ago.  The engraving on this silver plated gun shows as nicely as any we have seen.   It is a very generous "C+" coverage.  The engraver took extra pains to engrave the inside of the gate as well as the gate pocket.  That pocket engraving is the first time we have done this.  We think you will agree that it looks smashing.   The grips are perfectly matched genuine African elephant ivory and were hand selected and fitted by me in my own CT shop where I do all of the ivory work for The Colt Custom Gun Shop.  The grips are in the one piece configuration.
SG9 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This Colt SAA serial #S46037A is also a 4 3/4" 45 caliber.  The engraving is our usual generous level of (C+) coverage including the front sight, hammer, and inside the gate. The grips are the one piece configured genuine African elephant ivory and they display a marvelous grain pattern.  The engraving on this Colt is an extremely fine European style.  The artist is one of America's finest and well known Colt engravers.  We have given this one our usual custom tuned silky smooth action job as well.  This gun has been signed by the engraver in two different locations.  The scroll on this masterpiece just seems to jump from the surface of this Colt.  It is one of the finest Colts we have seen recently.

SG10 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This new Colt SAA has the bird's head configured backstrap with a .45 caliber 3 1/2" barrel, serial #S29876A.   This gun has a full ejector rod and rod housing.  Prior to 1992 it was nearly impossible to find a 3 1/2" Colt with an ejector rod and housing.  If you could find one it was usually an after market conversion.  All of Nutmeg's bird's heads come direct from the Colt Custom Shop that way.  The engraving is ours and this gun is engraved in a Cuno Helfricht style with a "C" coverage including the front sight and the hammer, and has been plated in nickel. The engraver has even engraved the inside of the gate surface where your thumb contacts.  The engraving coverage has been inked and all of the small parts have been given the rich treatment of fire blue.  The panel screws have each been qualified to tighten when the slots are exactly in the horizontal position.  Take a look at my new metal prep work.  That quarter round area on the back of the hammer matches the backstrap ears exactly just like the guns of fifty years ago.  The grips are hand selected one piece African Elephant ivory.

SG11 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This Colt is a wonderfully engraved and silver plated 4 3/4" .45 caliber, serial #S31524A.  I asked the engraver to give me a strong "C" coverage in the ever popular classic Helfricht style and he really gave me a generous amount of coverage that would qualify as at least a "C+".  The front sight and hammer have also been meticulously engraved and the coverage has been fully inked to add visual depth. The engraver even went so far as to engrave the inside of the gate surface where the thumb contacts.  He also has placed some engraving on the top of the hammer and the part of the trigger guard where your fingers wrap.  These are areas that are above and beyond the call for an engraver to touch.  My trademark fire blue package is included and the panel screws have been qualified to all align perfectly.  This masterpiece also has my new metal prep work that perfectly matches the backstrap ears with the back of the hammer just like Colt used to do it fifty years ago.  Check that out in the pictures.   The grips are another pair of my hand selected and perfectly matched one piece configured African Elephant ivory with no medallions.  This gun is a real beauty and will look great in anyone's collection.

SG12 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This Colt is S46955A and it is a .45 with a 4 3/4" barrel.  This gun was masterfully and lavishly covered with scroll in the style of L.D. Nimschke.  There is very little in the way of un-engraved surface area remaining on this Colt.  The hammer alone is covered on nearly every square centimeter possible.  The inside of the gate is covered as well.  Even the panel screws on this Colt have felt the artist's chisel.  The grips are hand selected pre-ban African elephant ivory.  The action has been custom tuned. Once again, I urge folks to look at www.gunbroker.com and www.gunsamerica.com.  You won't be able to find a gun as nice as this at any price.

SG13 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This is another real nice color 5 1/2" .45 Colt SAA.  It has everything that all of our guns have yet it is totally different.  It's just as nice but different.  The coverage is "C++" and of course it is another brand new unfired unturned gun in its factory fresh Custom Gun shop carton.  Serial #S44161 gun with all of my normal extras and even more.  The finish is nickel but it has been done in a softer antique style.  It gives the appearance of an older engraved Colt that could have some wonderfull stories to tell if only it could talk.  The engraving is still based on German-American engraving of the late 19th century.  It is in the style of L.D. Nimschke and Cuno Helfricht, very bold and unmistakable.  The coverage which is inked shows almost as a "D."  In addition to the normally engraved places, this masterpiece is engraved on the front sigh, the hammer sides and rear contour, the gate seat and two surfaces of the gate.  The engraver has signed this gun in two different locations. The grips on this masterpiece are of African elephant ivory, in the one piece configuration with natural color that shows grain that you just very seldom see.  This gun would represent a wonderful addition to the finest collection or that one time gun you have always wanted. The action on this gun has been custom tuned and gives the feel of silky smoothness with a nice clean crisp trigger break.

SG14 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This brand new Colt SAA is the most popular collector caliber and barrel length 4 3/4" .45 caliber.  The "C++ coverage is in the style of L.D. Nimschke who emigrated to the U.S. from Germany circa 1850.  Nimschke's most famous gun was the Colt he engraved for Teddy Roosevelt.  This masterpiece has been specially prepared for engraving for Nutmeg Sports at the Colt Custom Gun Shop.  The cylinder flutes have been beveled and the backstrap ears and hammer contour have been meticulously matched.  The engraver has fully covered the front sight, the hammer, and the inside of the gate and gate seat as well as the inside front of the trigger guard where the fingers wrap.  The gun is nickel plated and inked with a wonderful treatment of fire bluing on the small parts.  The panel screws are qualified so they line up exactly in the horizontal position when tightened.  Take note of the special engraving on the hammer.  The rear contour between the backstrap ears and the top surface of the hammer have felt the artist's chisel.  Each side of the hammer is breathtakingly engraved with the depiction of an eagle's head and wing.  In addition the hammer shows a  snake's body beneath the eagle.  True artistry such as this is rare.  We have added the extremely popular bull's eye ejector rod head to this Colt.  The grips on this masterpiece are absolutely breathtaking.  This is African elephant ivory showing the finest matching coloration I have ever seen.  Search the web.  Check the auction gun sites.  You will not find a Colt this nice.  If you are able to find anything even near the way this gun shows it will be priced thousand higher.

SG15 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This new Colt Single Action is a real masterpiece.  It is a 5 1/2" .45 caliber #S29968A.  The coverage is classic American style in a good strong "C" level of engraving.  Notice in the pictures the intertwining scrolls, and how the engraver has even covered the inside of the gate surface where your thumb contacts.   The front sight as well as the hammer are fully covered with lavish scroll.   The surface of this marvelous gun has been clad in rich fine sterling silver.   Take special note of how the backstrap ears and the rear hammer contour match perfectly just the way Colt used to do it fifty years ago.  This gun has been given the complete fire blue package and has been assembled with the ever popular bulls eye style ejector rod head.  The panel screws have been qualified to each tighten at the point when the slots are in the horizontal position and the engraving has been fully inked.  The grips are an absolutely perfectly matched pair of African Elephant ivory in the one piece configuration with perfectly matching growth rings.

SG16 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

It is the very popular black powder style frame.  It has been engraved with my usual very strong "C++".  The style is a unique blending of modern American and last century's Master, L. D. Nimschke.  This one even has the cylinder flutes engraved.  The hammer, front sight, top sides and rear contour of the hammer as well as the gate seat and gate surface where the thumb contacts have all felt the artist's chisel.  The finish is bright nickel and the surface has been inked and baked to clearly show the beauty of the engraving.  The hammer has been recontoured to match the backstrap ears, and the cylinder ends have been beveled.  The panel screws are qualified to tighten precisely at the horizontal position, and all of the small parts have been given the stunning treatment of fireblueing including that bull's eye ejector rod head.  The grips are the one piece configured genuine African elephant ivory.

SG17 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

This Colt is a brand new third generation serial number S34998A.  The caliber is everyone's favorite, the classic .45 long colt.  Barrel length is 4 3/4", and the finish is bright nickel.  Our trademark inking has added beauty and depth to the finely cut scroll which has been applied in a full "C+" coverage in a blend of American styles.  The coverage includes the front sight, the hammer, and the inside of the loading gate.  The engraver has even engraved the gate seat on the frame.  This is a fairly new feature, and to our knowledge we are the only ones offering it.  As usual you get more for your money with a Nutmeg Colt.  Like the complete fire blue package and qualified panel screws on this gun as well as the recontoured backstrap ears that match the rear contour of the hammer.  Colt used to do this about 100 years ago.  The cylinder's chamber leads have been meticulously chamfered.  The grips are one piece configured genuine African elephant ivory with subtle tan striping that matches at the butt in a unique herringbone pattern.  This gun will make a wonderful addition to any collection.

SG18 sold.gif (2104 bytes)

Here is another new Colt.  This one is a semi-auto Government Model Series 80.  It is of course brand new with it's original box.  It is a 45 ACP serial number 2818312.  This gun is fully 100% covered in classic American scroll.  The deep, bold engraving is visible on virtually every surface of both the slide and the receiver.  Even the magazine tube is engraved on both sides, the spine and the base plate.  You rarely if ever see this kind of detail.  The small parts on this masterpiece have been given the rich treatment of firebluing that really set this pistol off.  The nickel plating has been inked and baked.  This feature makes the engraving on this gun just pop.  The grips are a perfectly matched pair of African elephant ivory showing wonderful grain and character.  They show a creamy flow of colors that the pictures don't do justice.  The engraver was so proud of his work on this Colt that the magazine is signed, the slide is signed, and the receiver is also signed!  Carefully check out these photos.  If you know engraving and have walked the gun show circuit you know that you just never see guns like this one.  For the amount of engraving coverage, attention to detail, flawless matching ivory, and perfect finish this gun is very affordably priced.
